B.O.H.I.C.A.

Okay, okay, just clear your mind, and silence your thoughts.
Be careful now, this is not going to be easy. There is some serious stuff going on right now, and it is not going to be pretty. If you've got payments, responsibilities, anything. Hold on, cause it is not looking pretty out there right now.

The House of Representatives has denied the passage of a bailout bill which none of us need for them to do anyway. Unfortunately for the last 24 years our country has been living off of credit, and credit alone. For an eight year period between 1992 and 2000 we were moving away from such debt. But in 2000 we started spending the savings and using the credit card. Remember the additional $300~$600 dollars ol' President Bush passed out in 2001, and again in 2002? And the money we've spent on the war was borrowed.

Borrowed money backed by international banks, secured by the U.S. credit system, and the intrinsic value of the dollar. All the experts, all the financial advisors, commentators and the like never saw this coming. Too much fun watching the numbers go up, without truly paying attention to what was being done to keep this country afloat. You can't spend your income then borrow money to make your payments without it coming back to haunt you.

That's what we did, the so-called conservatives, the war-hawks, the neo-cons. Well, believe it or not Bin-Laden won. When Bin-Laden made his first comment to the west it was excerpted in the American media, but on the world wide media the full statement was read and translated for our 'infidel' ears. His primary statement was - "[He] wants America to bleed until bankrupt..."

The intention of Al-Quieda was not to destroy us by fire, but by economics. That America could not sustain an ongoing military effort which had no clear end. That it would ultimately destroy America, and our way of life. America is not monolithic, it is as diverse as the world itself. But America has an illness now, ideologues, and demagogues have come forward and obscured real freedom. Now they're trying to save their own ass, and damn the American public.

I am not upset that the Republican representatives in the House have blocked the Bailout Act from passing. I am upset that it took them this long to act with any responsibility. I contacted my local representative by email and informed him of my desire to have him vote no. And not even to entertain this bill whatsoever.

I am a bit somber as I write this because I look at my children, and the trappings of life which we all have become involved with. They will deal with this if we don't, but this country is undergoing is fourth revolution. Independence from Britain, The Civil War, the War for Civil Rights, and now The Haves and the Have Nots.

Tell your friends - Vote. Tell your neighbors - Vote.
Discuss with your pastor, your priest, your co-workers. VOTE.
And if that does not work, if that does not give voice to the suffering of these our people, whether Black or White, Latino or Anglo then take it to the street, go to the television stations, declare that you want to give voice to the issues we are all confronted by.

Because if not, get ready,

Bend Over Here It Comes Again.
